Adjust the rubber snubber for a softer or firmer ride. Start with a half-inch to an inch from the leaf spring. Then you can adjust from there. 'Caltrac' style bars work differently, but end up with the same reaction. They stop the twist of the axle and spring and make the tires dig in and go.

The cure we settled on was an anti-wrap traction bar kit from RuffStuff Specialties. It uses a single ladder bar that attaches to brackets welded onto the axle housing, in front it attaches.

Here is what I did to mine whae installing the CalTracs.I made a washer out of 1/8 steel plate and machined a step in it to pilot in the large hole bolted it in and welded it as best possible.It has been fine for years.The large cupped washer is a poor design. #1 · Jan 29, 2007 (Edited) I'm putting a 383 (sbc) in a '82 AMC spirit that is equipped with leaf springs. I'm gonna be swapping in a new differential entirely (8.8" ford), and I figure while I'm in there I'll try to do something to beef it up so I can get a good launch with the bigger motor.

1. Thats a pretty poor design. I see that your truck is dropped extensively, so you probably don't have much spring deflection in the rear at this point. If you do, then you cannot directly bolt a bar from the leaf spring to the frame.
